There is a growing awareness that cadastres (in urban and rural areas) forms a critical input to all administrative, legal, financial and planning decisions and is the crux for any development solutions.
Systematising the exisitng modes of handling land records needs to change over from the conventional system of village/cadastral maps, "un-registered" and non-standardised cadastral GIS, non-uniform structures of record of rights, linguistic variation in regional database - all of which are in hard copy register to a system of seamless Cadastral GIS across districst, states and even the whole nation.
