Remote sensing and GIS provide a powerful tool for development of an effective support system for Disaster Management. A suitable database can facilitate preparedness, mapping, monitoring and damage assessment of natural disasters and provide input for planning, preparedness and mitigation of natural disasters.
NST recognises that such strategies require the use and incorporation of a variety of ground-survey data - geophysical survey, seismic surveys, ground terrain surveys etc. A good GIS database design can enable this.
Further, inclusion of cadastral maps is also important for such applications and NST can bring in synergy between different layers in the GIS.
