NST was entrusted with the establishment of the complete solution of RAK Enterprise GIS System. The
project involved Aerial Photography, Cadastral mapping, 3D Mapping, GPS Surveys for spatial framework
establishment, Migration & Correction of existing Cadastral/Parcel Maps. GIS Database generation.
Updation at regular intervals, Establishment of Enterprise GIS architecture - supply of Hardware,
Software, integration and development of 16 EGIS applications Scope of work includes GPS / total
station Surveys, 3D Mapping, DEM, contour, Topographic mapping, 3D modeling, Establishment of
Enterprise GIS, Data collection from departments, correction and updation of the same with data
migration. System Integration and Updation.

Key Benefits that the System is providing to public and government department users include the facility
to search and view important Contacts, Description and Snapshots of Landmarks, Roads, Sectors,
Communities and Blocks of Ras Al-Khaimah. Public can search and view information of Landmarks,
Roads and Land use of Ras Al-Khaimah. The important Landmarks such as Government
Offices/Ministries, Educational Institutions, Banks, Clubs, Hospitals, Mosques, Hotels/Restaurants,
Shopping Centers, Places of interest, Parks, Round About are categorized. Further the RAK Web portal is
integrated with High-Resolution Aerial Imagery so that the public can easily view the Buildings or any
area very clearly.

As part of the project, 16 Enterprise GIS Applications were successfully developed. Key applications
include - Routing Application on Addressing Application database ; Planning Conditions Application;
Fleet Management; Sign Board Application; CCTV Application for Police;; Building Permit Application;
Automation of Survey Services, GIS for Health dept to monitor and track the inspection of hotels.

The Enterprise GIS is envisioned to be a hub allowing sharing appropriate spatial datasets and applications with other
government departments, authorities, some companies and the public, at large, using advanced Spatial
and Information technologies.
